VRChat Cell Block D-5 update and a reminder!
I’ve updated the Cell Block D-5 map so that the warden role can be transferred (and locked), for those cases where the host wants to go AFK. I’ve also done some more work on the language support (Polish/Russian/Ukrainian).
Also, a friendly reminder that you now have less than 12 hours to get the Halloween Specials if you still planned on getting any. The clock is ticking~
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!
I’ve just pushed a major update to the Cell block D-5 map on VRChat!
Changes:
- Script rewrite, again. It shouldn’t change much, but there is less networked scripts overall.
- Lowered light map resolution, I see no difference personally, but this pushes the map back under the 30Mb mark.
- Added a bit of a “guard post” next to the isolation cell, just a table with a couple stools.
- Every instance now has a Warden! Most of the time it will be the instance owner, but in public and group instances, someone else will be selected.
- The name of the warden is displayed on the wall near the guard post.
- The Warden has the ability to lock and unlock doors, locked doors cannot be open by any means.
- You cannot use the respawn menu option to escape cells anymore unless you are the Warden (soft-locking prevention).
- Everyone spawns in the corridor by default now rather than inside a random cell.
- Experimental Multi-language support (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean).
Vergilius elbow cuffs and other things
I started making the Vergilius elbow cuffs. The ring spacing is much larger than on the collar and cuffs but I don’t think I can insert an extra ring in without getting the opposite problem (too tight).
I also attempted to make a modempunk-ish keypad to use as a “secure” elevator call button on the cell block floor in dead realm but it doesn’t really “vibe” with me so far. It has the chunky keyboard keys I was picturing in my mind but the rest lacks style. Maybe I need to come up with something a bit more futuristic.
I’ve pushed 2-3 updates to the VRChat cell block: specular lightmaps (something it really lacked compared to the SL version), toned down lighting and emission (which felt a little too bright), and I also fixed some normal mapping issues. I want to make a few more additions before calling it good enough: a table and a couple chairs to act as a guard post, spawn control, and a way for the instance owner to secure the doors shut.
I was sick yesterday and slept all afternoon, (you can imagine what it did to my sleep cycle) motivation is pretty low.
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!
This update brings the padded cells & the pipework additions that I did for Second Life, to the Prison Cell Block D-5 in VRChat. Enjoy~
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!
I’ve finally updated the Prison Cell Block D-5!
Nothing major, but there are some improvements and additions:
- The world has (finally) been updated to Unity 2022.3.22f1.
- Fixed the reflection probe problem at the end of the corridor.
- Fixed post processing & color grading.
- Rebuilt all the light probe groups I accidentally broke 2 years ago.
- The cell facing isolation has been upgraded to a secure observation cell with polycarbonate panels.
- All the cells have been renumbered, the lettering has been softened to blend in better.
- Door logic has been completely rewritten, rookie mistakes have been fixed, and everything now responds much faster (from 4 seconds to ~1 second for clients).
- Colliders and seats are finally disabled by default.
- An ambient droning sound fills the silence.
- Corrected the plumbing used by low and high security cells.
Added thin mattresses to the small cells for (slightly) improved living conditions.
Lattice Cage prototype on VRChat!
Since I already spent the time to make metalness/roughness maps for the Lattice Cage, I figured I would dust my c# skills a little bit and try to port it to VRChat.
If you ignore… most of the TouchBound features really, I did a pretty good job in just two days.
I’m not quite ready for a release on Booth.pm, but I’ve put out a little demonstration world you can visit (with a VRChat account obviously), the world should work fine whether you use desktop or VR mode.
Be warned that being inside a cage will prevent you from escaping with the respawn function or from unlocking it, that is by design.
The locks are a little iffy-looking, but I mostly focused on the code and animation side of things. That’s something I still need to work on.
