Vergilius Collar & Cuffs now available for VRChat!

Having a video did so well last time (for the stunprod), sooo… I made another one for the Vergilius set. It’s… a bit questionable? We’ll see if booth ends up removing it, but it does make me wish that I could record some smooth VR choreography… I digress.

It is a fairly simple product feature-wise, I tried to build upon the prisoner shackle set and included a pre-made animator setup to show/hide the different cuff groups, saves you from making your own. Personally? I don’t use the included menu, I just have my clothes toggle the cuffs on/off directly to prevent clipping.

I also added a Poiyomi material set in addition to the standard shader setup and a couple more variants to save you from having to import the cuff set in Blender.

It isn’t made for any specific avatar in mind but unless you need to do something very specific, the ModularAvatar setup should get you sorted. Oh and if you want the locks to be smaller or the ring shackles to be bigger, you can just resize those bones in Unity, no fuss.

As usual for VRChat assets, head over to booth.pm if interested. Do message me on booth if you have issues/suggestions related to it.

Looking for the Second Life version? head over here.

Slowly getting there…

I’m slowly getting there, to a point where I feel that the VRC version of the Vergilius set is about done. I ended up modeling a simple little padlock that uses an unused corner of the metal texture, looks the part, right? I ended up having to redo the locks twice due to bad proportions, I also remade all the lock posts and shackles because the previous version had no UV coordinates for some reason.

Ended up redoing the “skeleton” two or three times because I kept deleting bones I did not think I’d need and had to redo physbones & toggles every time. Oh yeah I also wrote the animator stuff to show/hide each pair of cuffs (it just shrinks them to 25% of their size, really). There is a menu too, but personally I don’t use it as other garments can operate the cuff toggles, that’s just as good if not better.

Lastly I’ve cooked up some passable “standard shader” settings for the metal and rubber (as seen in the pictures). I’d like to add poiyomi material settings, but the matcaps I use are my personal stuff…

Currently it will ship with two variants: collar-only and “full-set” (8 cuffs + collar). Should I include more options for this? wrists and elbows only maybe?

Working on a Vergilius cuff set for VRChat

I need a new collar for the Valentine dance so I’m making a Vergilius cuff set for VRChat!

I ended up modeling a simple padlock for it today because I don’t have any that isn’t built as a sculpted prim for the TouchBound system. I managed to cram them in the free space of the metal texture UV but they are pretty low-resolution all things considered. Since this version is for VRChat I’ve put it together into a custom skeletal rig that uses ModularAvatar for ease of installation and low object/material count (1 mesh for the entire set and 2 materials).

It’s a bit on the heavy side with 40Ktris for the entire set (collar + 4 sets of cuffs), but I’ll include a more “stripped down” version where the inner side of the straps has been removed, and a couple variants for convenience (collar only, wrists only, etc…)

Once this is sorted I’ll return to the “skin suit” project!

The last 3 hours have been absolute hell as I ended up locked out of the site! I assumed the worst and was ready to purge the entire subdomain… But it turned out that it was a misbehaving outdated plugin.

The feeling of the intense stress coming down was almost… orgasmic.

Cell Block D-5 update

I’ve just finished updating Cell Block D-5 both on Second Life and VRChat. One of the narrow cells has been transformed into a hybrid, furnished variant. (Because of how small it is, collisions are disabled on the furnitures). It brings a bit more variety as I don’t think the cell block really needed 3 identical narrow cells.

  • On the VRChat version I’ve also improved the quality of the lighting with less noise in the dark cells.
  • On the Second Life version I’ve added an ambient piano track that plays once (it restarts sometimes, not sure why, but it shouldn’t be too upsetting) when you arrive at the location.

VRChat Cell Block D-5 update and a reminder!

I’ve updated the Cell Block D-5 map so that the warden role can be transferred (and locked), for those cases where the host wants to go AFK. I’ve also done some more work on the language support (Polish/Russian/Ukrainian).

Also, a friendly reminder that you now have less than 12 hours to get the Halloween Specials if you still planned on getting any. The clock is ticking~

Prison Cell Block D-5 update!

I’ve just pushed a major update to the Cell block D-5 map on VRChat!

Changes:

  • Script rewrite, again. It shouldn’t change much, but there is less networked scripts overall.
  • Lowered light map resolution, I see no difference personally, but this pushes the map back under the 30Mb mark.
  • Added a bit of a “guard post” next to the isolation cell, just a table with a couple stools.
  • Every instance now has a Warden! Most of the time it will be the instance owner, but in public and group instances, someone else will be selected.
  • The name of the warden is displayed on the wall near the guard post.
  • The Warden has the ability to lock and unlock doors, locked doors cannot be open by any means.
  • You cannot use the respawn menu option to escape cells anymore unless you are the Warden (soft-locking prevention).
  • Everyone spawns in the corridor by default now rather than inside a random cell.
  • Experimental Multi-language support (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean).

Vergilius elbow cuffs and other things

I started making the Vergilius elbow cuffs. The ring spacing is much larger than on the collar and cuffs but I don’t think I can insert an extra ring in without getting the opposite problem (too tight).

I also attempted to make a modempunk-ish keypad to use as a “secure” elevator call button on the cell block floor in dead realm but it doesn’t really “vibe” with me so far. It has the chunky keyboard keys I was picturing in my mind but the rest lacks style. Maybe I need to come up with something a bit more futuristic.

I’ve pushed 2-3 updates to the VRChat cell block: specular lightmaps (something it really lacked compared to the SL version), toned down lighting and emission (which felt a little too bright), and I also fixed some normal mapping issues. I want to make a few more additions before calling it good enough: a table and a couple chairs to act as a guard post, spawn control, and a way for the instance owner to secure the doors shut.

I was sick yesterday and slept all afternoon, (you can imagine what it did to my sleep cycle) motivation is pretty low.

Prison Cell Block D-5 update!

This update brings the padded cells & the pipework additions that I did for Second Life, to the Prison Cell Block D-5 in VRChat. Enjoy~

Prison Cell Block D-5 update!

Prison Cell Block D-5
I’ve finally updated the Prison Cell Block D-5!

Nothing major, but there are some improvements and additions:

  • The world has (finally) been updated to Unity 2022.3.22f1.
  • Fixed the reflection probe problem at the end of the corridor.
  • Fixed post processing & color grading.
  • Rebuilt all the light probe groups I accidentally broke 2 years ago.
  • The cell facing isolation has been upgraded to a secure observation cell with polycarbonate panels.
  • All the cells have been renumbered, the lettering has been softened to blend in better.
  • Door logic has been completely rewritten, rookie mistakes have been fixed, and everything now responds much faster (from 4 seconds to ~1 second for clients).
  • Colliders and seats are finally disabled by default.
  • An ambient droning sound fills the silence.
  • Corrected the plumbing used by low and high security cells.
Added thin mattresses to the small cells for (slightly) improved living conditions.

Enjoy ^_^

Lattice Cage prototype on VRChat!

Since I already spent the time to make metalness/roughness maps for the Lattice Cage, I figured I would dust my c# skills a little bit and try to port it to VRChat.

If you ignore… most of the TouchBound features really, I did a pretty good job in just two days.

I’m not quite ready for a release on Booth.pm, but I’ve put out a little demonstration world you can visit (with a VRChat account obviously), the world should work fine whether you use desktop or VR mode.

Lattice Cage in VRChat

Be warned that being inside a cage will prevent you from escaping with the respawn function or from unlocking it, that is by design.

The locks are a little iffy-looking, but I mostly focused on the code and animation side of things. That’s something I still need to work on.
