Second batch out, 3 more bits!

And 3 more for my ponyplay fans, this time introducing the straight bar style, with another spoon bit and the most iconic rubber bit that there is 🙂

Enjoy!

3 New PonyPlay bits released!

Finally they are ready for release!

  • Liverpool Rubber bit: I always loved how the liverpool chanks looked, there is something very stylish and industrial to them. Combined with a rubber mouthpiece, this makes for an alternate, yet comfy looking bit.
  • 4Rings Spoon bit: The 4Ring style is another alternate english chank design that i thought was elegant and “light looking”. This one is equipped with the very infamous spoon bit. It’s a very restrictive design, I own one in real life and having so much metal in your mouth makes it very uncomfortable and drool-tastic (is that even a word?).
  • Classic Split Metal bit: This is the “light” style, for those who find the english lever bits too “busy looking”, with a split metal mouthpiece, which is pretty much your standard horse bit.

As usual, available from the KDC Main shop in Dead Realm from any of my satellite vendors, or from the KDC Marketplace store.

Enjoy 🙂

Quick update on the bits

I forgot 4 styles so I still have this to do that and I’m working on preparing the product pictures.

Weekend server work.

I just spent most of friday and saturday fixing a problem with my web server. For the non tech savvy, most typical web servers are composed of 3 distinct parts that must work together to produce your average dynamic content website:

  • The web server itself (Apache in my case): responsible for delivering and presenting the pages aswell as receiving the user inputs.
  • The database server (Mysql for example): responsible of storing, retrieving and performing database operations.
  • The script engine (PHP ): this vary from language to language, but in essence, it is producing most of the dynamic content on a website.

Those are essentially 3 completely independent pieces of software that are glued together.

Now back to my problem. I am running a multi site setup, which means several websites are running on the same machine, to do this cleanly, I was using an apache module called mpm_itk that allows me to neatly separate each distinct site on its own apache/php instance.

Since about a week we have encountered problems, with instances segfaulting (that’s the technical term for crashing 🙂 ). apparently the problem was due to the php module we where using, it is prone to crash when running in a prefork system like this one.

To overcome this we moved to php_fpm, which runs the php script engine separately from the web server, what’s even better is that we can run several “pools” of it, one for each site, all we have to do is to specify the socket for each site in each virtual host configuration file.

For those who are interested by this alternative to the regular php module.

And 4 more bits!

This is the last batch before I start preparing them for release. ENJOY 🙂

And five more!

I’ve redone my ring texture, so I took the opportunity to make a “loose ring” style. I might bundle it with the bridle… I don’t know.

The other one you saw before, I thought the shape of those shanks was very elegant… But it’s also huge. I will probably sell it as is, but will add a warning that it is “recommended for posture collars”.

That’s the second time I edit this post, I guess I’m on a roll 🙂

Two first bits done!

The two first bit variations for the PonyPlay bridle are pretty much done, with their own hud (it’s doing the same thing as the original but those visually match).

Those have the same rubber mouthpiece, but with different shanks. I started with rubber mouthpieces because those will not need any code “patch” to work properly. This should bring a little more variation.

Note that the “4 ring” style doesn’t have any loose rings on the lever ends on purpose, i thought it would make it a little more compact. There is also no reason to have such rings when the lever tips are wide like that.

Feel free to send me pictures of mouthpieces you would like me to make 🙂

A little update on the institutional straitjacket.

Version 1.4b is here, fairly minor adjustments but I’m sure everyone will welcome them:

  • Removed the invisible prims
  • Added a set of alpha layers  (5 lengths in 10 pixels increments)

If you want the new jacket, just send me a private message, those who bought it from the marketplace can simply ask for a redelivery (I think?).

Otherwise, there is a free box in my in world shop for those who just want to grab the alpha layers.

I am a little sick this week but i should be back working monday.

And one more!

Some more bits of bits :)

For those wondering “What the hell is this?”, it’s called a “closed spoon” bit and it’s used on horses that tend to put their tongue over the bit. The two wide spoon shapes prevent him to do so.

I have one at home, on human ponies it’s very uncomfortable makes you unintelligible and drool a lot!
