30cm support elements
I started working on these today since I lacked time and wanted something that could be ready to post about very quickly.
I might have to make “short” versions for those cases where the floor/walls/ceiling aren’t deep enough to hide the unused part of the support piece.
knife valve done, and a few support struts
I figured this might interest someone?
The first 4 pictures are the custom LOD models I made for the knife valve, despite how aggressive the last one is, it’s still quite a few LI (only so much I can do without being a complete pig with it)
I’ve also made a few stackable strut pieces, nothing too fancy.
It’s so big!
I just finished unwrapping it!
Took me way too long because I figured that someone is going to try to use unique textures on it and I wanted to at least make sure that the UVmap wouldn’t make that impossible.
Even by butchering the LODs (test upload), I cannot get this thing to go below 3LI. I suspect it’s going to be a headache to get it low enough for people to want to use it.
Sidenote, I’m gonna put the valve body bolts on their own face.
Knife valve in progress
Here are a few iterations on this part, from the earliest, up to where I currently am with it.
The initial version had far too many of those ribs, less is more here.
I do have to make the body a bit more “stout” to meet with that piece of tube that comes from the top flange set.
Gearbox and hand wheel
Gearbox and hand wheel completed!
They are separate from the wafer valve body itself to allow more flexible orientation. To go with it, i completed a fairly “worn out” hand wheel for it, it has a fairly long shaft for flexibility, and you can stick it on either ends of the gearbox (both ends of the gearbox are closed caps for this reason), or even both.
The wheel is also separate, so you can remove it entirely, or script it for rotation.
The gearbox has a small circular window on the side, unwrapped to make it easy to “slide” a texture across it, can be useful for an indicator.
Valve deja-vu
Yeah… I’m re-making the butterfly/wafer valve. Why? Hopefully to make it better… I guess.
I still haven’t finished the hand wheel, the rusty material I made for it is really old and outdated at this point, so I’m gonna have to re-do it anyway >_<.
I’m getting really sick of this project but I have to finish it or I’ll keep redoing it over and over.
Happy birthday me!
Not a lot of updates today, but I’m 38 today and I got enough cake to get sick!
I got the pinch valve final uploaded with LODs and everything (2LI), and I “recreated” a house for the town of Hinamizawa expansion. This version is non-enterable, which is fine.
Pinch valve
Another part to add to the kit! A “simple” large-bore pneumatic pinch valve. I’m kinda maxed on face count with the two end pieces gasket and two-part body. I could make the body a single face, but being able to vary texturing a little between the two halves does add a bit of variation, so you can make the bottom half rusty (rustier?), or the top part painted in warning stripes…
Or use smaller pipes with it and pretend it’s some kind of boiler?
Things like that.
A load of parts
I had to take a little break again for health reasons (no not the coronavirus). This me trying to catch up 😛
Loads of new pipe pieces all finished up (pretty much everything uses custom LOD models).
The new flanges are pretty much final (there is a couple low-lod models I don’t like but it’s probably just me).
That’s pretty much all the ‘pipe’ parts I wanted, manifolds don’t really need custom parts: Slap two pieces of tube together and you can make pretty much any junction you want already.
What remains: Valves, valve accessories, mounting brackets, supports, and… maybe a few open and/or broken parts?
Bendy pipes
I’ve tried to write a check-list (feel free to comment and make suggestions!) of all the different parts I want to make… and it is pretty big.
Big and incomplete too. I can’t decide on what valve and elements to add to the set and which designs, especially for the 10cm and 30cm pipes.
At least I got more bends done I suppose? These, with the short turn ones I’ve already done for the large pipes SHOULD be everything you realistically need, as far as bent pipes go.
I also don’t know If I want to have flanges on the valves. Not having any means that you can re-use some of the valve parts across pipe sizes, just add the proper flange set to it. But it is less practical, and might end up bloating the LI.
